Funeral letter flowers – personalised floral letter tributes

Letter tributes are one of the most personal things a family can order for a funeral. Rather than a general tribute that could belong to anyone, they spell something out — a name, a title, a word. MUM. DAD. NAN. GRANDAD. BELOVED. Those choices are made differently from choosing a wreath or a coffin spray; they require a family to think about what word they want said at the service, which is often a more meaningful act than choosing a colour or a shape.

Each letter is built on a foam base shaped into the letter form, covered in fresh flowers from edge to edge. The letters are made individually and placed together, which is why the pricing works per letter — £65 each, up to 14 letters per arrangement. Most tributes are short: three or four letters for a name or title, occasionally longer for a word or phrase. The arrangement is designed to be displayed in sequence, either along the floor in front of the coffin or on a surface at the service.

Practically, letter tributes need space. A three-letter word like MUM takes up the full width of a standard arrangement; longer words require more room and should be planned in advance with the funeral director, who can confirm what’s available at the venue. This is worth discussing before ordering, particularly for crematoriums where space in front of the committal area is more limited than in a church.

Flowers and colour

White is the most commonly chosen colour for letter tributes, particularly for names — it’s clean, it reads well at a distance, and individual letters sit clearly within it. Soft pastels work well where the tone of the service is lighter or where the word chosen is celebratory rather than formal. Bolder or brighter colours suit someone whose character was vivid and the service is marking that. The colour should be consistent across all the letters, or we can discuss a gradient approach if you have something specific in mind.

Specific flower requests can usually be accommodated within the colour palette you’ve chosen. If a particular bloom mattered to the person, tell us when you order.

Ribbons and finishing

A ribbon with a name, a date, or a short message can be attached to each letter or run across the arrangement. It’s a small addition that many families include. Foliage accents can be added around the letters in the display.

Two working days’ notice is needed. We coordinate delivery and placement with funeral directors. We deliver to funeral homes, churches, chapels, crematoriums, and graveside.

FAQ

What words do people most commonly order?
MUM, DAD, NAN, GRANDAD, and NANNA are the most common — short, direct, and clearly from a specific group of people at the service. BELOVED and TREASURED are ordered when the family wants something less specific to a relationship. Names — first names or short names — are also frequently ordered, particularly from groups rather than immediate family. The word or name is usually the first decision; everything else follows from it.

How is the pricing structured?
Letter tributes are priced at £65 per letter. A three-letter tribute — MUM or DAD — is £195. A seven-letter tribute — GRANDAD — is £455. There’s no minimum, but most orders are at least three letters to make the tribute legible and proportionate. The maximum is 14 letters per arrangement. If you’re working to a budget, the length of the word is the main variable — contact us and we can help you think through what works.

How much space do letter tributes need at the service?
Each letter is a self-contained piece, and the width of the combined arrangement depends on letter count. A four-letter tribute will measure roughly 4 to 5 feet across; an eight-letter word takes up considerably more. Before ordering, it’s worth checking with your funeral director what space is available at the venue — crematoriums in particular can be limited. We can advise on what’s typically achievable if you tell us the venue.

Can the colours be mixed or graduated across letters?
Most arrangements are made in one consistent colour across all letters. Graduated or mixed colour approaches — where the colour shifts across the word — are possible but need to be discussed before ordering, as they require more planning and sourcing. If you have something specific in mind, contact us early and we’ll tell you whether it’s achievable.

Can I include a specific flower?
Yes, where it’s available seasonally. If a particular flower was connected to the person — something they grew or that held meaning for the family — mention it when you enquire. We’ll include it across the letters where it works structurally, or tell you if it isn’t feasible. Not every flower sits well in a tightly covered letter format; we’ll advise honestly.

Can a ribbon or message be added?
Yes. A ribbon with a name, a date, or a short inscription can be attached to the arrangement. It’s often added at the base of the letters or across the front. Tell us what you’d like when you order.

How much notice do you need?
Two working days minimum. Letter tributes require more construction time than standard arrangements because each letter is built individually. If your situation is urgent, contact us directly as early as possible and we’ll tell you what can be done within your timeline.

Where do you deliver?
To funeral homes, churches, chapels, crematoriums, and graveside. We coordinate placement with funeral directors to ensure the letters arrive in the right order, in good condition, and positioned correctly before the service.
